200 services of LSGD departments to go online

KOCHI: In an interaction held with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), M V Govindan, minister for local self government department, Rural Development and Excise Government of Kerala urged the support of the CII in bringing investments to the state.
Minister mentioned that in the next three months, around 200 services of LSGD departments will be made available online reducing the scope of human interference and thereby ensuring faster and transparent process.
He also added that consolidation of all the LSGD departments into a single directorate will be officially declared shortly and it will be of great help to people.
Minister also mentioned that one of the important agenda of the Government is to improve Quality of Life of extremely poor people and bring them to the mainstream. With the support of Kudumbashree which is having a membership strength of 45 Lakh people more number entrepreneurial units will be formed with a target of 1 unit in 1 ward focusing more on unemployed woman between the age group of 18-35. Government is planning to set up around 20000 new units during this tenure.
He added that Government is giving more focus on waste management and in this regard with the support of Rs.2500 Cr from World Bank waste management units will be formed in the state for effective waste management. He also shared that the government is planning to complete 10,000 new houses as part of the Life Mission in next three months.
Government is also aiming to create 2 lakh jobs within five years.
Sreenath Vishnu, Chairman, CII Kerala suggested to create a development plan for each district focusing on resources and skill set available. Geemon Korah, Vice Chairman, CII Kerala suggested to create awareness sessions among Government officials in the LSG Departments in terms of reforms and initiatives undertaken by Government of Kerala towards improving ease of doing business.
CII suggested that each District should be made to compete in terms of Investment mobilized and employment generated and Best performing District can be awarded.
CII also mooted the idea of constituting an award jointly by CII and Government of Kerala to acknowledge best performing LSGs in terms of Ease of Doing Business.
